Eventually, Jackal is confronted by [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen]], who offers him immortality in exchange for the death of [[Ra]] and his service. Jackal agrees, becoming one of [[TheHorsemen The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse]], and after killing his father, a member of [[TheBrotherhood The Brotherhood]]. His immortality intrigues [[Augustus]], who captures him to learn of the runes and then releases him. Throughout the [[TheGreatWar Great War]], Jackal follows the orders of [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen]], assisting in the slaughter of many of the [[MohammedFamily Mohammed family]] and the [[TheChosen Chosen]]. After the final battle, the [[TheLost Lost]] scatter due to a lack of strong leadership, and Jackal wanders. He locates his mother in Greece, and evokes the wrath of [[Achilles]] after killing his father. When he is defeated by Achilles, Jackal looses his membership to the Brotherhood. His knowledge of the future return of [[Augustus]] leads him to try to revive the [[TheLost Lost]], and to be present upon [[Augustus]]'s return in 248 BCE. Jackal, however, is captured by the [[TheAllianceofHumanity Alliance of Humanity]], which learns from him about runes, as well as the return of [[Augustus]]. His escape from captivity occurs just in time for him to be in Sicily for the attack by the [[TheAllianceofHumanity Alliance of Humanity]] and [[Augustus]] on [[ParadiseLost Paradise Lost]]. In the battle, his attempts to acquire the [[ZaizensOrb Orb]] and [[ZaizensCoffin Coffin]] are thwarted, and he is trapped in [[ParadiseLost Paradise Lost]] when the gates are sealed by [[TheSupreme The Supreme]]. His immortality enables him to survive, but during the campaign to destroy [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen]], his master actually kills him to obtain the immortality rune that was placed on his forehead.
