The youngest son of [[TarifMohammed Tarif Mohammed]] and [[Miriam]], Esam follows his parents through the Exodus and the subsequent chase by the [[TheHorsemen Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse]], one of whom, [[Jackal]], manages to kill the rest of his family as [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen]] attempts to eliminate the Mohammed line of the [[TheBrotherhood Brotherhood]]. Knowing that his end is near, [[TarifMohammed Tarif]] passes on his [[TheBrotherhood Brotherhood]] membership to Esam and provides him with a letter to take to his friends, [[JaidenKnight Jaiden Knight]] and [[Thalia]] in the case of his death. This planning is well thought out as the attacks by the [[TheHorsemen Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse]] continue and [[TheJackal Jackal]] and [[Soren]] kill both [[TarifMohammed Tarif Mohammed]] and his father [[DabirMohammed Dabir Mohammed]]. At the age of nine, young Esam is on his own and follows his fathers guidance, attempting to make his way India in order to pass on the letter. He is intercepted by a Kazi caravan under the leadership of [[UdayKazi Uday Kazi]] who rescues the boy and brings him into [[ParadiseLost Paradise Lost]] and sends the letter to [[HaydadMohammed Haydad Mohammed]], the last known relative of [[TarifMohammed Tarif]] with his own son [[GuriKazi Guri Kazi]] who is with another caravan that is headed towards Babylon. This action is unknown to [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen]] who consolidates his forces and attacks [[ParadiseLost Paradise Lost]] in order to end the life of young Esam. His death at the hands of [[Soren]] however does not achieve [[ZaizenTamari Zaizen's]] objective and the [[TheLost Lost]] are forced to search for the next line of Mohammeds.
