**Physical Appearance:** A tall and muscular Creole woman.
<#jonah: - Kel: shouldn't she be known as "Miss Lizzy" to the kids, if she's Miss Clark? #>
**Im not sure what your question is here Jonah... she is known as Miss Lizzy to the kids. (Not sure how that got lost in the copy paste that Bill did...**
<#jonah: Ah, the above text called her //Mrs.// Lizzy, so I just fixed it up. #>
<#bill: my bad, it was just a typo. notice the first time i mentioned her, she was call 'miss' #>
<#ann: Also, I've been reading a lot about race, class, and gender in N.O. in this period. When we say "creole" in modern times we usually mean someone that is of at least partial African heritage, but at the time they meant anyone who was of French or Spanish origin (and there were arguments being made that it should apply only to white people.) When you say she is Creole, what exactly do you mean? Sorry to be nitpicky, but I don't want to make assumptions that might be incorrect.#>
**To clarify, she speaks with a thick Creole Accent, and has a light brown complexion, its unclear exactly what race she is.**
<#bill: so should it be amended to say something different? Like just say she has a light brown complexion? #>
**Im fine with it the way it is, but either way works.**
<#bill: Ann, you did the research, so I defer to you. #>
<#ann: I don't really care how it's phrased on the wiki, I just wanted the information for my own edification. #>

**Description:** Miss Clark is the matron at [[TheStJamesOrphanage The St. James Orphanage]] of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was hired by [[RoseBlack Rose Black]] run the Orphanage which includes: keeping the orphans clothed and fed, putting them to bed, and caring for them when they are sick. "Miss Lizzy", as the children sometimes call her, lives and sleeps in a small room underneath the loft where the children sleep, acting as both a caretaker and a prison guard. She is not cruel to the children, but this is a job for her and she treats it like one. She is very even handed with the children. She is not above spanking and punishments, but at the end of the day, the children's best interest are in the forefront of her mind. She and Louis Lavinie, the chef at the [[TheStJamesHotel the St. James Hotel and Orphanage]] flirt a lot, but nothing more appears to come of that. She spends her nights alone. If she is not actively dealing with the children, Miss Clark acts as a maid and laundrywoman for the Hotel and Orphanage.
