Additions:
Dr. Cora Reynolds is a female doctor, a graduate of the Women's Medical College in Philadelphia. She comes to stay at the hotel <#kate: on June 8, 1870 #> while her sister is getting married. One of the orphans who has some contact with the guests - Cole maybe? - realizes that she is a doctor and finds a way to finagle things so that Celeste can talk to her. Dr. Reynolds is a bit taken aback, but willing to talk to Celeste. They have a series of conversations over the course of Dr. Reynold's stay. While Dr. Reynolds does not know of any black women doctors off hand, she does know that there were photographs of previous classes from Women's Medical College that had African Americans in the pictures, so it is a possibility. She is candid in saying that she doesn't know who would hire a black woman doctor, but Celeste willfully ignores this part of the conversation in favor of the part where it's technically possible. Celeste is excited and after a few months of having been slightly withdrawn and sullen when the subject of the girls' futures or life after the orphanage comes up, now she's back to her previous ambitious daydreaming. She discusses with Dr. Reynolds what sorts of subjects she should be studying, and what kind of things she can do to get ready for classes.
<#kate: Ella would definitely be supportive, especially since she's still recovering from her busted wrist which Celeste successfully tended. She'd probably ask about snake bites, broken legs, gun shots - and other more imaginative injuries one might have and how Celeste might go about treating them, having been inspired by the plays she's seen or the stories she's overheard from the rougher parts of town. #>
