======Cole's First Letter to the St. James====== 1877-01-12 Dear the residents of the St. James, I have wonderful news! But, the wonderful news can wait at least a few lines. Do not skip ahead. That’s cheating. First things first: The journey with Jeanne went well. We arrived without incident. The countryside was beautiful. I have always enjoyed our annual outings for hunting, but it was particularly special to see so many different places outside of the city, even if we were just passing through. It was hard to say another goodbye - the last goodbye. Though the parting was sad, I could see how excited Jeanne was to begin this new part of her life. Everyone seemed very excited to have her there and I have a good feeling that she will do quite well. I arrived at the recruiting station and there seemed like there were a thousand people milling about. And now, it is time for the __great __and __amazing __news...In the middle of all those other men waiting to sign in who should I spy, but my very own brother! Just a few people ahead of me in the line stood Shawn! Have no fear, he is well. Actually, as I write this he sits not a room’s length away from me having himself a good shave. We’ll be having lunch soon after. There really isn't much time to write and I should be going, but I did not feel the news of Shawn’s return could or should wait. I hope this letter finds you all well. Yours always, Cole p.s. Please make sure to pass on the news to Jeanne as soon as you are able. Once training starts, I’m not sure how much time I will have to write, though I will do my best. Also, I wouldn’t mind hearing stories from home. NeedsKelly NeedsJonah NeedsCourt
