<#court: In the late afternoon, Jeanne comes in the kitchen with a wet but clean frog, still bleeding a little from several holes. It looks as if it has been skewered several times. She shoots an excited look to Celeste, who knows she'll get filled in later, as she is busy with dinner prep, Then she has a quick conversation with Louis (in French) asking if he could use it for frog legs. He considers, looks a little amused, and says he could if he had more. Jeanne looks excited and hurries out of the kitchen. She returns later, muddy, with several more frogs, all with much neater and smaller holes. #>

This evening in the tower, Cal and Shawn come up and say thank you to Jeanne. Cole and Ollie nod knowingly. Sean looks pretty grateful and says, "Thanks, I thought I was going to get it from Mr. French when that frog got away!". Cal seems more impressed at her comfort level around frogs; he starts interrogating her about the gigging. In a combination of words and mime, Jeanne shows them. She goes back into the bedroom for a minute and comes back with her frogging gig, which she shows off and then returns.
While Jeanne is demonstrating, Cal takes the opportunity to gently tease Minnie, who squeals and looks disgusted at the mere thought of something slimy.

That evening at dinner, Louis comes out with a steaming plate of frogs legs to go with the rest of dinner. Judging by their preparation, he has cooked them before, but never for the children, and there is a range of reactions. Jefferson is full of excitement about being taught to make something new. Celeste, having never tried this dish, is eager. Minnie, after one appalled look, studiously ignores the dish altogether. Erin does not react negatively, and gives a shy smile at the Thibodeaus' enthusiasm, but she doesn't take any. Valerie eats them with no discernible reaction. Cal eats them with bravado, and Shawn and Deco follow his lead. Jeanne looks amused, and tucks in heartily after getting a wink from Louis. Ollie is a bottomless pit in which to place frogs' legs.

**Shawn is more thankful than Cal (Though they both thank her) Cal is definitely impressed by Jeanne's non squeamishness with Frogs, and uses it as an opportunity to gently tease Minnie who squeals at just the thought of slimy things.**
<#ann: Late afternoon makes me think the kitchen is busy with dinner, so Celeste is probably not there. What do you do with the frog once it's dead? Bring it to the kitchen for cooking, try to build a fire and cook it yourself, hide the evidence? #>

<#bill: Is it clear why they are thanking you? I mean...were they being attacked by the frog? :-) #>
**Cole might be involved in the frog racing too if you want Bill.**
<#court: It is probably not clear at first blush, but if you ask, Cal or Shawn would probably end up answering. The gist is that Shawn had marked a frog with paint for racing, but it darted away after the race on an intercept-course with Mr. French. Jeanne gigging it probably saved him from a beating. #>
<#ann: Celeste has never actually eaten frog legs, so she is eager to try them. #><#jonah: Ollie is a bottomless pit in which to place frogs' legs. #>
**I'm not sure how common frogs legs are but I think that would be a dish that Louis has cooked before. I dont know if its common though. (e.g. Celeste may have had them before). Though Im okay with her never having had before this point so its a better story...**
<#court: I'll take what we have here and write it into a neater story - Bill & Jonah, do you think Cole and Ollie were racing frogs or just present? #>
<#bill: Cole would have been racing frogs #><#jonah: I think Ollie would have been watching. #>NeedsCourt

[[1866.12.03.JeanneGigsAFrogPrivate]] - This event occurred during the later part of afternoon chores, when Cal and Shawn were racing frogs in the garden, and Jeanne and Minnie were working. If you think you'd be there, just let me know! <#jonah: If Cal and Shawn are goofing off, then it means that the linen work is basically done, so Ollie would be there. #> <#bill: If all the boys are there...then I think Cole would be there as well. #>

Deletions:
<#court: It is late afternoon, and Callahan and Shawn, after miraculously finishing their chores very quickly, have been racing frogs in the garden. After a previous race, they had mixed up their frogs halfway through, making for an unsatisfying conclusion, so this time they have located some paint, and each painted a stripe on the back of "their" frog. Callahan's is white and Shawn's is blue. Jeanne, who has positioned herself nearby, using a pitchfork to mulch a bed, is ostensibly working but is actually mostly watching and enjoying. Minnie, on the other hand, is making a show of being extremely productive on the far side of the garden, with her back to the rest of them and indignant huffs drifting from her direction periodically. Fun is had and the races are essentially concluded. [At this point, the kids hear Mr. French, who has walked out the hotel door adjacent to his room/office shouting something about idle hands (he is too far away for it to be about them - any volunteers? shouting at ollie who is headed to the dumbwaiter and lollygagging? anyone else have a reason to be in that outside corridor?] Cal and Shawn look up to roll their eyes at each other, taking their attention off of the frogs for just a second... and the blue one darts away. It heads towards the path Mr. French is on, on an intersection course. Shawn looks stricken, suspecting that Mr. French will identify the amphibious decoration as a non-natural occurrence, and not approve of time spent painting frogs. Cal looks like he's mustering up to take the blame. #>
<#court: As the frog passes Jeanne, she casually reaches out and gigs it, as elegantly as is possible with a large gardening tool, and, never saying a word, places it behind the pot in the bed she is working on. Shawn and Callahan look a little shocked, but shoot her a quick nod and glance appreciation of before taking off to escape Mr. French's eye. #>
<#court: Later that night in the tower, they ask her about it, and she shows them the frogging gig, explaining in animated word and mime how to use it. (Not sure who's there that night, but feel free to jump in) #>
