<#bill: That sounds like a great idea. Cole would be really into figuring out the con - how the game is rigged - probably more so than the actual throwing. It's sort of why he learns magic...cause once he seeks a trick he can't stand not knowing how it works. I have no problem with her being the better shot (just naturally more gifted) even though they have both practiced. It might be fun if we kept it a secret from the other kids and just let them be wowed by the prizes we bring and then our free admissions.....#>

<#ann: Ooh, I like the idea of a time when the rock throwing is put to good use. We don't have enough people for a baseball team (well, maybe just barely, but not enough that would actually play.) Hmmm. You don't know about the circus, but apparently there is a circus that comes around every year, and we usually attend. (It wasn't determined yet how old we are when we start going, but we're definitely all attending by the time Ella shows up). Maybe there we find one of those ball throwing games, and sort of sucker the carney into giving us a free throw or half-price because really, who would expect the little black girl to be any good? And then, of course, I win! Those are rigged somehow, I'm sure, but Celeste likes to figure things out. I think she'd be able to see what the trick is and combine that knowledge with her skill. You can win too, you've also been practicing. We all were for awhile, but I suspect everyone else lost interest. Maybe that's even how we earn our way into the circus for a few years. The carney sneaks us in because every once in a while when business is starting to get slow we'll go over and make a big scene about how easy it is to win, and that helps sucker people into playing since they don't expect children, espeically vaguely familiar children they've seen around town, to be in on the con. #>

Additions:
<#bill: I say no feud. You seem more negative than positive on the idea and I was only throwing it out there as a possibility and don't have strong feelings one way or the other. Do you have feelings on creating an event where we get to put our rock throwing into practice? Maybe not a fight, just like a context and Celeste dominates due to her practicing... #>

Additions:
<#ann: I dunno. On the one hand Celeste's view is coloring what I think. But I think that if Cole/Bill wants to feud, then it could make for some interesting stories. I think the feud shouldn't be too long lived though - I wouldn't want to still be feuding as teenagers. #>

Additions:
<#bill: Well, we're cocreating so it's really less about what Celeste would want than what Ann wants. I can envision lots of things that Cole wouldn't like (like getting caught doing something) but which is fun and interesting and Bill (cause he doesn't actually have to feel the beating) thinks is fun. So, Ann - feud = fun or not fun for you? #>

<#bill: We could turn this into a feud with the townies. What are your thoughts on that? #>
<#ann: I don't think Celeste would want to turn it into a feud. She's angry and upset by the incident, but she's also sort of embarassed too. She's only just beginning to realize the full impact of racism (she was very sheltered pre-orphanage) and while she's happy that her white friends are jumping in to help her...she's also confused and in denial and it's a bit overwhelming for seven, she wants to pretend it never happened. We just started rock practice because it's useful. Yup. That being said, it could easily get out of hand with Cal and Cole and Shawn out for blood and working themselves up into a frenzy just because it's fun to be frenzied sometimes, especially when you're little and it's mostly theoretical at first. #>

<#bill: Ann, I went ahead and made the changes. You'll see I also kept much of what you wrote because it made sense to me that they'd share with the others...and Callahan being Callahan would take over and react just how you had it. If you're cool with it you can just delete this note to you.

Additions:
Cole and Celeste are basically unhurt. Cole has a few scrapes, but nothing he can't hide from the adults. His biggest injury is a large bruise from where Celeste missed with a rock and hit him instead. After the townies run off Celeste runs up to Cole to ask him if he's okay. Pulling himself up from the ground, Cole says "yeah..." as he rubs the spot where Celeste hit him. "Friendly fire hurt worse than what they did," he says with a teasing smile.
"Sorry..." Celeste says a little guiltily. "I can get you some ice."
Cole shakes his head, "No..but maybe we could practice?" he says with a smile.
That night in the tower they tell the others about what happened. Callahan immediately gets excited and wants to identify the boys involved. He alao quickly takes over the idea of practicing throwing rocks as if it was his own idea. "This won't happen again. My army needs to be proficient with projectile weapons! Friendly fire is not acceptable!" Celeste rolls her eyes a little, but she's secretly proud, and learns to throw a rock with solid aim. Cole is thrilled when Callahan praises his military prowess.

<#bill: Looks good to me, Ann. Thanks for putting it up. The only thing I'd say is the language seems a bit more highbrow than I would have given Cole credit for at this age - but I think the sentiment is spot on. Maybe something like she runs over to him asking if he's okay as he pulls himself up from the ground. And he says "yeah..." as he's rubbing where she hit him. "Friendly fire hurt worse than what they did," he says with a teasing smile. "Sorry..." she says a little guiltily. "I can get you some ice." He shakes his head, "No..but maybe we could practice?" he says with a smile.
Also, it may not be part of this event...and it may be something easier to chat than to do on the wiki...but maybe we could have a race related conversation here. What are your thoughts on that? You think it's something they'd talk about explicitly or no? #>
<#ann: That's because it's Callahan talking, not Cole. We can make it Cole, though. I wasn't really planning that part, it just sort of rolled out as I was writing. I thought it'd be funny if she hit him, and then the Callahan in my head was appalled. I like your version better. Especially because that's extra bonding experience as Cole teaches Celeste how to properly throw a rock. Too bad we don't have enough free time for a baseball team!
And somehow I managed to miss your second paragraph. I honestly don't know if they'd talk about it or not, since all of my experience is with modern children. I think it would depend on the nature of the conversation. Maybe we can try to work it out in chat before Courtney arrives on Wednesday. #>
<#bill: Ann, I'm sorry. I totally read too fast and missed that it was Callahan talking. If you're okay with the change, I say we keep it because I like the increased bonding between them as well. #>
<#ann: Keeping the change then! Go Cole/Celeste rock throwing! #>
