Dear Ella,

I am not trusting this to the post because of time; I will leave the envelope at the docking office in the harbor for you to pick up. (This is not useful news to you, since you hopefully will have found the letter!) Thank you for writing! When I heard of your news, I was thinking that I should find your schedule and travel to you when I could. I am excited we will meet so soon! In a pinch, you can find me at the boardinghouse you wrote to, but when I get word of the boat's arrival (people in town are talking already!), I will go down to the harbor. May be easiest to find me at the dock of the Sweet Mary. She's a fishing boat, and will be there every morning, unloading. I am shooting pictures there for the next couple of days.

I would love to come see your show! It would be just me. And yes, let's meet up whenever you are able! I will take you for some ginger beer if you like. There is a street cart nearby that professes to "restore tone" after any intemperance the previous evening. I suppose it wouldn't matter if there were intemperance or not - tone is important, right? And Jim McQueen's ginger beer is excellent.

Hoping to see you any day now,
Jeanne
