I am thrilled to hear your news that you have been taken on as a performer on a showboat. I know how much performing has always meant to you, and can only imagine what raptures you must now be in.
While it is unlikely that you will ever make your way to Philadelphia while on a riverboat, I suppose stranger things have happened. If such were to occur, please inform me at once, as I will move heaven and earth to find a way to attend.
I know better than to wish you luck, but cannot quite bring myself to speak of breaking legs, so I shall simply end the letter.
