A few weeks previous: Ollie and Celeste go to pick up some wounded animal (not an unusual occurrence), and come back with a really roughed-up dog. For a while, it looks like its injuries will be fatal, but Celeste's skills and Ollie's comforting go a long way, and they patch him up over the course of a few weeks. They pry open a disused shed in the back corner of the graveyard in order to keep the dog undiscovered.
The day before: Having nursed the dog back to health, Ollie and Celeste take him out to try to find him a place to live. By following where he leads, they discover that he used to live in a horrible kennel at the edge of the city, which seems to be housing dogs for some sort of fighting ring. There are several other abused pups there, and Celeste and Ollie pledge to free them. That night, they organize the troops.
8 AM that morning: The assembled kids raid the dog kennel, freeing the dogs. They discover a gambling den, unoccupied at such an hour. Later, they tip off the police to the illegal gambling den & fighting ring, and it is shut down.
