<#kate: Ella learns her chores, mostly maid duty and cleaning. Before hand however, Ms. Lizzy instructs Minnie to clean her up and they have a nice time being a little girlie together. #>

<#kate: During the meals, Ella eats up, still seemingly like this is a rare treat. #>

Jefferson is happy to have another good eater around, and gives her extra helpings if she wants em. She also notes that Jefferson never seems to eat sweets himself, but does eat everything else.

<#kate: During the lessons, she becomes really quiet and it's clear based on Ms. Lizzy's initial instructions that Ella might know her alphabet, can count her numbers on her fingers as well as read a few basic words, but she's far from literate or mathematically educated. I feel it's clear the rest are far more advanced, and she gets a visibly embarrassed, then rather stubborn in completing whatever lesson Ms. Lizzy has presented to her. #>

Deco is also not very good at the lessons and spends most of his time doodling on his desk and generally not paying attention.

<#kate: Not sure if I have the lessons right or people's abilities, but figure you'd all notice the above. #>

NPC Learning/Lesson info.

Cal is naturally intelligent but does not apply himself, he can usually puzzle though things but is bad at anything that requires memorization or "applying oneself." He generally sits in the back of the classroom and makes trouble.

Minnie tries very hard but does not have any of Celeste's intelligence. She is good at memorizing things, but lacks much of what Cal is good at. She doesnt like the classes but does them cus adults seem to think they are good. She doesnt like it when the other kids goof off.

Deco is sort of slow, he doesnt read very well (Dyslexic, undiagnosed) and math seems to pass him by, hes content to just draw on his desk and not draw attention to himself.

Shawn is really good at math but struggles with reading and writing.

Jefferson tries, but and is sort of average at everything. He does not however like attention drawn to him and tends to not answer even questions he knows unless pressed by Ms Lizzie.

Erin is good at reading and writing, she loves stories and books, but has no head for numbers.

Valarie tends to spend most lessons simply looking out the window, lost in her own thoughts. She does appear to always know the answers when pressed by Ms. Lizzie.

<#jonah: During the lesson, when it's become clear that Ella is a bit behind, Ollie leans over to her and whispers, "Don't worry, you'll catch up pretty quick. When I started lessons here I didn't even know how to speak English!" He gives her his goofiest Ollie grin, before snapping back into a more studious position to avoid the wrath of Ms Lizzie. #>

<#kate: Ella smiles a little at his whisper and grin, and seems to redouble herself toward her work. #>

Cal and Shawn (and Cole?) sit in the back of the classroom and generally make asses of themselves, whispering and making paper airplanes.

Minnie keeps shushing them and generally looking annoyed.

<#ann: Celeste offers little bits of help throughout the day, trying to not embarrass <#kate: Ella #>. She lets her know that most of the kids didn't read or write when they came to the orphanage, regardless of how old they were. #>

Cal offers that Shawn still doesn't. Shawn hits him. They both get slapped by Ms Lizzie and told to behave.

<#kate: She definitely appreciates the little bits of help from and the tactfulness of Celeste. #>

<#court: Jeanne watches Celeste helping Ella, and starts fiddling around with her pencil instead of doing work. She ends up getting in trouble from Ms. Lizzy and when lessons are over, she leaves quickly without talking to anyone. #>

Minnie seems concerned and follows quickly after Jeanne.

<#ann: Celeste seems surprised and irritated when Jeanne does not wait to walk with her, and makes a big show of asking Ella if she needs someone to show her how to get to wherever she's going after class. #>

<#court: Jeanne, turning the corner, clearly overhears this. You see her back stiffen and then she straightens up and walks faster. You hear a dull thump. Sounds like maybe someone tripped, or kicked a wall, or stomped on something. #>

<#kate: Ella seems a little confused by the interaction happening before her. Not mentioning it directly she says, "Um, sure," rather ambivalently to Celeste while walking cautiously alongside and along the path Jeanne took. #>

<#court: Later, at dinner, Jeanne seems back on her usual even keel. #>
