Ella has been visibly interested in all of the music the kids have been playing at the orphanage, and while Ella was teaching Ollie to dance, Jeanne had proposed maybe showing her some tunes on the washboard. Today, Jeanne initiates a conversation with Ella for one of the first times, and offers to show her. They meet up after afternoon chores and Jeanne sings her some French tunes, translating them as she goes. That night in the tower, she makes sure to have snuck the washboard and a thimble, and sits by Ella, showing her the basics (a song to go with one of the tunes she taught her in the afternoon) as the kids make music.
