Revision [27533]

This is an old revision of JeanneEarlyDays made by BillHamilton on 2013-01-31 07:58:30.

For the first two weeks JeanneThibodeau Jeanne has been in the orphanage, she has been quiet and standoffish, though she does her work. She looks at everything and everyone carefully, taking it all in, and though she is not overtly rude, she has a general air of quiet defensiveness. She sleeps with her sack. The first full day she was there, she tried to take it around with her, and got into an altercation with Mr. French. She fought like a cat but ultimately had to give in. She was sore for a few days, and started keeping it under her mattress when she had to be out in the hotel.

Cole and Celeste have made overtures at friendship, and although Jeanne has flickers of moments when she lets her guard down, they are rare and followed by double defensiveness. Jeanne has not made any significant attempts in English, though she will respond in French if spoken to in basic French, or, occasionally, in Cole's Spanish.

<#ann: Just confirming that Celeste does make attempts at friendship, trying to be helpful and nice, and clearly enjoying being a semi-translator when she can understand what Jeanne is trying to say or is able to communicate with Jeanne in French. #>

<#bill: I agree Cole is friendly...Jeanne notices that he seems to try to say something new to her in French most days. It's clear he's asking Celeste or Louie for specific phrases, because if Jeanne answers back Cole is generally at a complete loss and just smiles back at her...repeating his phrase. #>

Court for me to get a feeling of how the adults handle the sack I need to know whats in it.
<#court: Kelly, it is here: sack #>

NPC action:

I think Minnie is also sort of standoffish, not mean, but I think she doesnt have any frame of reference to deal with a girl like Jeanne, I think she tries to offer her things that would be comforting to her, (new clothes, washing, etc) that are less comforting to Jeanne.

Shawn lets her be.

Erin tries to smile and be nice but is uncertain how to interact, she clearly wants to be nice but the language barrier makes it hard. She speaks slowly and smiles alot.

Callahan is very friendly, and as is his way incorporates her as if she had always been there and part of the family. He tries to lure her out to the tower, he slips her food if she is hungry, but overall he just is himself and acts like she is not new at all. If the adults do take away her sack and dont give it back, Cal steals it back for her.

Valarie lets her be.

Jefferson I think is generally nice but they have some problems interacting (she is dirty and not used to dealing with clean kitchen things (is my impression) so he falls into Minnie's camp a bit))
