Basic events for Ollie's first day:
- After meeting the gang (as summarized in 1866.11.20.OllieArrives) he is left in the garden with Jeanne. As she does her work, the two of them talk more about what's happened to their family.
- Jeanne tells him more about the Hotel / Orphanage
- After noon, Mr. French comes to fetch Ollie, and conscripts him into duty as a laundry hauler.
- Later (perhaps during the afternoon lessons) Lizzy takes Ollie (and maybe Celeste to translate? and gives him the low-down about the daily routine, and has him choose a bed. Jeanne inists on joining, and Ms Lizzy relents. <#ann: Celeste would love to translate. Lizzy knows some French, enough to give direct commands, so between the two of them, they manage to make rules and general ideas clear to Ollie, with Jeanne pitching in. Poor Ollie, three women talking at him and yakking his ear off with what he's supposed to do and how he's supposed to do it. #>
