Description:
Jefferson is a stout mixed race boy, though to look at him you wouldn't guess he had a shred of white in his genes. If the children got more food he would most likely be overweight, but as it is he remains the largest and heaviest of them.
Jefferson loves to cook. Louis happily fosters this and picks Jefferson first when needing help in the kitchen.
Jefferson was left by his father when his mother died of fever. He was 6 at the time.
He doesn't expect his father to come back and has latched onto Louis as a surrogate. He's half black and half white, another reason for the father's abandonment since as a white man, having a mix-race child would have made things difficult.
At some point Jefferson gets food poisoning because he ate something he wasn't supposed to (raw crab cakes, cookie batter...something that was going to be thrown out).
He gets very ill but recovers and after being punished for his gluttony, helps out with the food preparations once more. He aspires to open his own restaurant one day.
