The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are three metahumans and Deathblade that serve as the generals and leaders of TheLost The Lost. They have been written about in human history as the Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Pestilence, War, and Anarchy, with the fourth horseman, Death, being Deathblade.
In 1260 BCE ZaizenTamari Zaizen discovers how to create runes for immortality. He places these runes on his three lieutenants of the time, Soren, Luyu, and Bokula. When Bokula is later killed, Jackal takes his place and also receives an immortality rune. However, while these runes prevent the Horsemen from dying of natural causes, they do not keep them from dying violently. By 1141 Bokula, Soren, Luyu, and the host of Deathblade have all been killed in battle. Deathblade, of course, is able to find a new host eventually. Jackal is trapped in ParadiseLost Paradise Lost for millennia, unable to die because of the immortality rune. In 2007 CE he is finally killed when a partially resurrected Zaizen removes the rune.
- Luyu represents Anarchy. She has the metahuman power of controlling swarms of small animals. She is killed in 1141 BCE in the battle that splits Zaizen.
- Bokula is the original Pestilence Horseman. He is killed by NduluAshari Ndulu in 1250 BCE during the ThePlagues Plagues of Egypt. Jackal becomes the next Pestilence Horseman in exchange for killing his father, Ra.
- Soren represents War and has the scopes of Fire and Darkness. Soren is killed in 1145 BCE by Matu. Since Matu saves Menefer from Soren's attack at this time, his death directly leads to the cooperation between TheChosen the Chosen and TheAllianceOfHumanity the Alliance of Humanity that will later result in the defeat of ZaizenTamari Zaizen.
- Deathblade is the Horseman of Death. During the Horsemen period, the Deathblade host is Lothar. This host is killed in 1141 BCE during the defeat of Zaizen. When Deathblade next incarnates, five hundred years have passed and all other members of the Horsemen have long since been killed.
