The Knight Family is one of the oldest metahuman lines. The first known metahumans from this family are BastienKnight Bastien Knight and GwenKnight Gwen Knight who were born , born in 1317 BCE and 1311 BCE respectively in Northern France. Their parents and village were slaughtered by TheRightHand The Right Hand in 1300 BCE, and BastienKnight Bastien Knight and GwenKnight Gwen Knight are rescued from the devastation by Augustus who brings them to his home on Crete where they meet Omran Mohammed. The gathering develops the idea of bringing more metahumans together, especially in light of this threat from TheRightHand The Right Hand and Augustus continues his travels to achieve this objective. This effort culminates in the creation of Paradise Lost in 1249 BCE by JaidenKnight Jaiden Knight, Bastien's son and his wife Thalia with the assistance of Tarif Mohammed, Omran Mohammeds grandson and NduluAshari as well as Rafik Kazi, GwenKnight Gwen Knight's husband. To create Paradise Lost, they use the Amulet of Augustus and also create a universal key, the Ark of the Covenant.

Starting with the marriage of Gwen and Rafik, there is a strong tie between the Knight and Kazi families and they continue to work together to create a location that could provide sanctuary to metahumans who were being persecuted by human and metahuman forces as well as help educate each others children by having them live with the other for long stretches of time.

Within Paradise Lost the Knight family develops a notion of marrying only metahumans. Over generations the ruling Knight family begins to divide. By 1140 BCE, after the defeat of ZaizenTamari removed any overarching reason for collaboration, TheChosen and TheSupreme are more formally established and become political rivals within Paradise Lost. By 1053 TheChosen are removed from power and TheSupreme take over as the rulers of Paradise Lost. In 244 BCE Paradise Lost is assaulted by the Alliance of Humanity, Augustus and TheJackal. During the fight XavierKnight, the leader of TheChosen at that time, kills Augustus and retrieves the Ark of the Covenant that had been stolen previously, and escapes with other members of TheChosen faction including his son Ferris out of the gate at the temple of the Huntress. Xavier divides the Ark into two, and sends one half with his son to try and get it to Ndore but Ferris is lost at sea, as is his half of the Ark. The other half stays with TheChosen and is eventually hidden within a watch that is passed down through the generations, passing through the hands of UlyssesKnight, MarcoKnight, VanessaGraves nee Knight and into the hands of ZackGraves before its use within the August 2007 campaign.
